Latest Update (Updated regularly – please keep checking back)

We have joined over 100 clubs across the country in writing a letter to the FA to urge them to slow down the process of determining the outcome of our season, and to reconsider their decision to terminate the season and expunge all results. The full club statement & letter can be viewed here.

Statement:

Lancing Football Club take the safety & wellbeing of our players, coaches, supporters, families, sponsors & officials very seriously, across the club holistically and across each of our individual 18 youth & senior teams.

For detailed information about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 & information in general, please refer to the NHS website here. This includes practical steps to take within our football club, work, in public and at home.

As a football club we plan to continue to operate as safely as possible, with our senior committee members working remotely to communicate plans going forward to safeguard the wellbeing across the senior & youth sections.

Please note that the Culver Road stadium, home to Sussex County FA & Lancing FC is now closed until further notice – no access to the stadium is permitted without permission from the facilities team where necessary.

Presentation Night 2020 – planned to be held at The Dome, Worthing in May – is still currently on. However, discussions are being held as to if the event can go ahead, whether it should be postponed, cancelled or held in a different format. Please keep checking back for updates – those who have purchased tickets will be informed of any changes & refund information nearer the time.

As per government guidelines, all social gatherings are advised against, including all social activity amongst club members. Please follow government guidelines by avoiding social contact, staying at home, and contacting healthcare professionals should you require support.

This is a tough time for us all, including non-league clubs such as ourselves, losing the vital revenue from matchdays, sponsorships, and other sources of income. We will continue to try to run for as long as possible whilst the pandemic restricts our activity.

All football cancelled:

We have been advised by the Sussex County FA that ALL grassroots football in Sussex will be postponed for the foreseeable future.

This will affect all teams, both senior & youth.

If there are any further updates, and when we know if/when football will resume, updates will be posted online.

To confirm – ALL football activity is postponed until further notice – this includes ALL training sessions, matches, team meetings & any social events.

Stay safe, and we hope to see grassroots football in Sussex continue when safe to do so.

What will happen with league positions?

The leagues for all of our respective senior & youth teams are in discussions about how to handle either playing the remaining fixtures of the season at a later date, or perhaps more likely & in a more sensible & realistic stance, to end the season early & decide how to handle league positions, promotions & relegations, and ensure the wellbeing of our squads.

This could have particular impacts upon our first team squad, who are currently top of the SCFL Premier Division table, and have been since Christmas.

As soon as we are made aware of any updates concerning this, we will let you know.

Enquiries & Updates

Please continue to follow our website & social media channels for updates throughout the foreseeable future whilst we continue to follow guidance from the NHS, Public Health England, Football Association, Sussex County Football Association, and the league competitions to which our teams are affiliated to.
