And now for something completely different!

The giants of the grappling game will be throwing their weight around next week in aid of Lancing Football Club.

The Sunday afternoon Wrestling Spectacular at Lancing Parish Hall on March 17 is to raise funds for the promotion-chasing Isthmian League club, and chairman Barry Sutton is excited by the prospect.

“We have never done anything like this before, and we are hoping a lot of our fans and the local community will get behind what we are doing and support the event. The profits will all go to Lancing FC so you will not only get an afternoon of top quality entertainment but you will be helping the team too”

The show, presented by leading UK matchmakers Premier Promotions, whose wrestlers regularly play to capacity crowds at Worthing’s Charmandean Centre, will feature a huge super-heavyweight tag match and an all-in American rumble.

The top of the bill pitches the notorious team of The Beards, “Man Mountain” Karl Atlas and Mad Dog Quinn, against the pairing of “Mighty Oak” James Kenna and Big Wade. The four men tip the scales at a reported combined weight of 85st, and that will be boosted even further by another seven or eight wrestlers battling it out for the king of the ring title.

There will be plenty more tag-team and solo action in the lead-up to the rumble where the contestants are eliminated by being thrown out of the ring over the top rope, and the last man standing is the winner.

To book for the show, which kicks off at 3.30, go to or telephone 0333 666 3366. Tickets are £10 for adults and £9 for children and there will be a raffle and light refreshments also available.
