Lancing FC are delighted to announce that they have teamed up with a host of famous musicians and will record a funk version of the monster hit ‘baby shark’ at the end of the season with funds going to the group supporting the club – Footballers Of Our Lancing.
It is hoped that famous musical luminaries such as Adele, Captain Sensible and Chris Waddle will soon be signed up to join players, management and committee in the recording. East 17 (pictured below) are also rumoured to be taking part.
The words from Baby Shark will be replaced and instead players names from the current Lancing squad will be sung instead. Verse one will now be Alex Laing doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo etc and verse two Knory Scott doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo. Andrew Briggs and George Taggart are believed to feature in verses three and four.
Chairman Barry Sutton said ‘I’ve heard some of the players sing an initiation song on the bus and it is clear to me that two or three of them have voices very similar to Bono. We’ll make sure that they have their mics turned off during the recording but the rest of the squad can hold a tune. I’ve been compared to a young Pavarotti myself and we’ll be bringing some supporters in as backing singers. Little did they know that those chants of ‘Yellow and blue army’ could lead them to topping the charts. The group will be called All Proceeds Raised In Lancing and we hope to raise enough money to buy enough footballs to replace those that have been kicked into Monks Rec.’
No date for release has been set yet but February 30th has been pencilled in.
