This mid-week’s fixture sees us take on AFC Croydon Athletic in the Isthmian League South East Division as we welcome the players, supporters and club officials to their short visit by the seaside.

This is our first visit meeting with the rams after they were promoted from the Combined Counties league via the playoffs last season for a first year since their take over by a consortium consisting of ex premier league player Wilfried Zaha, famous rapper Stormzy and former Crystal Palace head of care Danny Young. The Rams currently sit in 19th place in the league after securing 2 draws from 5 games including a 1-1 draw with the league leaders Beckenham Town.  The Rams have visited Sussex twice previously already this season with 2x 2-1 defeats at East Grinstead and Burgess Hill Town so we are definitely expecting a close game at Culver Road this Tuesday evening.

Saturday saw the Lancers pick up their first 3 points with a victory over Phoenix Sports in front of a crowd of 276 which included 93 under 16s who had free entry. 2 goals and a clean sheet was enough to put a smile on the Lancing fans faces to make their weekend even happier with Luke Robinson opening the scoring in 10 minutes and Evan Hoarty getting the winner just before the end of the first half. You can now read Jamie Spoor’s match report from the weekends league victory here. We held a vote on X (formerly twitter) on Sunday between 4 players (Luke Robinson, Shay Leahy, Leon Moore and Sam Bull) for who would get our man of the match. The results were confirmed the same evening with captain Sam Bull who helped to keep the clean sheet and was strong throughout the game got the majority of the votes so receives the award. Although some other strong names which could have been nominated such as Knory Scott and Alieu Secka.
