Saturday’s 2-0 victory was our first ever win against Herne Bay at the fifth time of asking, having lost the last 4 against them, conceding 14 goals in the process. The result was particularly bad news for Herne Bay manager Steve Lovell who lost his role as first team manager the following Monday. It is never nice to see a manager lose his job and we wish Steve all the best in the future. You will have noticed the return of Alex Plummer from Haywards Heath and the debut for Conor Clark who joins us on a short term loan from QPR. Conor comes from Brighton (and went to school with the Chairman’s daughter by huge coincidence) and we would like to thank Conor and QPR for helping us out.

This Saturday we travel to Sittingbourne, who are unbeaten since September 28th, a run which includes 20 wins and 4 draws. They haven’t played since their FA Trophy 4th round victory over Salisbury on January 4th, a win which will see them play Southend United away on February 1st. They were due to play Margate away on Tuesday but that was called off due to floodlight failure. Last season saw us draw 0-0 with the Brickies at Culver Road and 2-2 at the Staxson Stadium. The away draw in particular was disappointing as we led 2-0 until Destiny Ojo (who can be seen here BBC SPORT NI on X: “Scenes!!! 😲🤩 What a moment for Destiny Ojo and the Cliftonville fans as the Reds book their spot in the League Cup final ⚽️🏆 #BBCFootball https://t.co/m8XLKcXqCc” / X scoring the 117th minute winner for Cliftonville in the BetMclean League Cup Semi Final on Saturday) was controversially sent off allowing our hosts to pull it back to 2-2. The Lancers will be hoping for a little bit more luck this time around at Woodstock Park. Entry is £10, £6 and £3 and kick off is at 3pm. If you cannot make it then updates will be available via X throughout the afternoon.
