Old foes Beckenham Town visit Culver Road on Saturday in a game that could be vital at both ends of the table. Lancing sit in 4th place with 50 points after 28 games. Beckenham are in 20th place and 7 points from safety, albeit with 3 games in hand and with relegation rivals Phoenix Sports still to visit them. Recent form has seen Lancing take 9 points from the last 6 games and Beckenham have taken 5 points from the same period.
The two teams met three times in the same season back in 2016 with the FA Cup clash finishing 1-1 at Beckenham before they won the replay 4-3. We then travelled to Beckenham again in the FA Vase, Lancing winning 3-1 on that occasion. Beckenham won both league matches last season, 3-2 at Culver Road and then 4-0 at Eden Park Avenue. This season Lancing won 3-2 away in November with an OG, Andrew Briggs and Knory Scott on the scoresheet. This was one of the hardest fought matches of the season and the Lancers will be under no illusion that we will be in for a tough game again.
Home fans may get their first chance to see Nic D’Arienzo who may make his home debut. Skipper Alex Laing was missing from the defeat at Three Bridges and manager Dave Altendorff will be hoping that he recovers from illness in time to feature in the squad.
