The club would like to confirm that the following players will be departing: Alex Laing, Harry Heath, Shay Matthews, Blake Loyza, and James Dillon. Additionally, following recent approaches, Noel Fisher and Charlie Gibson will be joining other clubs.

Manager, Billy Wood:

“Saturday’s game was simply about ensuring we fulfilled the fixture. There’s no point in sugar-coating it—one of the departing players had already left before we met the squad on Thursday. While social media toxicity is playing a role at the moment, I have nothing but respect for the way the departing lads have communicated with me, shown me courtesy, and explained their reasons—all of which I fully understand. I wish them the very best in their next endeavours.

“In the short term, this makes the job much tougher than anticipated, but our focus now shifts to recruitment to give us the best possible chance in the final 10 games. While we must address the immediate challenges, we also need to keep an eye on long-term sustainability. I take pride in improving situations over time.

“To the Lancing supporters, I urge you to get behind the players who are committed to pulling on the jersey for these last 10 games. The league position of the club is the result of an entire season’s challenges, not just what has unfolded in the past 72 hours.”

Chairman Barry Sutton added “It is no secret that early cup exits together with a drop in crowd numbers have made this a challenging season so far. Not only will Billy be able to use his contacts to bring in quality players but he will also be able to assist the club with his commercial experience. I appreciate that this is a worrying time for supporters but I echo Billy’s sentiments and urge supporters to get behind the players in the final 10 games.”
