We are delighted to announce that 17-year old first team player James Beresford, has been given a 6-week trial at Reading Football Club, which began yesterday.

Beresford, previously with Brighton & Hove Albion & Worthing, dual-signed with Lewes, has been an integral part of Rouane’s first team squad so far this season, and there is no doubt in any Lancers supporter’s minds that he fully deserves this opportunity to trial for a Championship club.

Fellow teammates, also dual-signed with Lewes, Mitch Hewens, who was Man of the Match in Tuesday night’s 3-1 victory at home to Saltdean United, and Conrad Honore, have also been given a 2-day trial at Reading, following their previous sessions with the Royals.

The minute he walked through the door his quality was evident often making the game look easy and playing well below his level

First Team manager Naim Rouane added: “All at Lancing FC are absolutely delighted for James Beresford to achieve a 6 week trial at Reading FC.”

“The minute he walked through the door his quality was evident often making the game look easy and playing well below his level. He’s been a pleasure to manage and a joy to watch, on top of that he’s honestly one the nicest lads you could possibly wish to meet, I see how much he’s loved by all the players and staff!”

“We wish him every success over the next 6 weeks and as a team and group we’ll do everything we can to help him with whatever he needs.”

We wish James, Mitch and Conrad the best of luck in their trials and look forward to continuing to develop youth players alongside Lewes FC & Lewes Under-18s in the future.
